Glossiness is a property that occurs when the surface of a material is so smooth that its relief is smaller than the wavelength of visible light.
Glossiness is measured by the reflection of a light beam falling on the material.
The forehead, nose bridge, and chin contain many sebaceous glands, producing more sebum than, for example, the neck or cheeks. The sebum causes the skin to shine and give a glossy appearance.
On a passport photo, no gloss or white spots in the face should be visible that are caused by the use of flash or artificial light.
A shiny skin often causes glossiness in the photo. Other reasons may be sweating, glasses, or jewelry.
When it comes to paper, gloss plays a significant role. Gloss is influenced, among other things, by the treatment of the paper. We print passport photos on suitable photo paper using a photo printer that meets the requirements.
