The jaw is a part of the skull, located at the bottom of the head. The function of the jaw is to process food so that it can be digested.

In humans, the lower jaw consists of a curved horizontal section and two perpendicular sections. The teeth are located in the jaw.

Jawlines

The jaw can have different shapes. There are generally three types of jawlines:

• Rounded jawline: a jawline where no angles are visible between the horizontal section and the perpendicular section.
• Pointed jawline: a narrow jawline with the horizontal section forming a point.
• Angular jawline: a wide jawline with distinct angles between the horizontal section and the perpendicular section.

Rules for the Jaw on Passport Photos

The jaw must be fully visible on your passport photo, but it may be covered with a beard.
